Shiny Christmas tree decorations

Craft assignment – Shiny Christmas tree decorations.

Just before Christmas, we as teachers are always looking for a fun craft assignment.
Not too complicated, easy to use materials, and of course incredibly fun to make.
What could be better than a shiny bling-bling thing for the Christmas tree.
That’s how I came across this fun Christmas tree decoration on the internet.
Simple made of cardboard, aluminum foil and some other materials.

What do you need for these Christmas tree decorations?

Cardboard.
Thick knitting wool.
Scissors.
Glue.
Aluminum foil.
Permanent markers.
Thick needle or needles, pricking pen.

A round shape – the Christmas ball.

Have the children cut a circle out of cardboard of around 8 – 10 cm.

On the edge of the circle they can cut five notches along which the wool can be guided.

As shown in the photo, they can wrap the wool around the disk a few times.

Then they need a strip of aluminum foil that is slightly wider than the circle.
They then apply glue to the less shiny back.
The cardboard circle can also be provided with glue on one side.

Stick the disk to the aluminum foil. And cut away the excess foil half a centimeter from the edge as shown in the photo.
Then you stick the narrow edge around the disk.

Then glue the other side and fold the aluminum foil around the other side of the disk.

Now the children again cut away half a centimeter of the excess foil from the edge and glue the edge around the disk.

Use a needle, a pin or a pair of sharp scissors to poke a hole for the hanging cord.

Now they can colour in the areas created by the wool running under the aluminium foil with the markers.
Not all areas need to be coloured in.

Please note that the permanent markers may transfer a little before they are dry.
The children will get some of the ink on their fingers.

When it is ready, a thick needle can be used to thread a thread through the disk so that it can be hung up.

A square glossy card.

I thought it could also be made with a different shape.

A square shape also seemed easier to stick with the aluminum foil, but that was a bit disappointing.

The principle of the square is the same.

And coloring is done in the same way.

And the end result is just as beautiful.

An easy craft assignment that can be completed in an hour.

Of course, it is a beautiful sight to decorate the Christmas tree in the classroom, or to hang it on a line next to each other in the classroom.
